Determining BMI from a BMI Index Chart

BMI can be determined by using BMI Index Chart. To determine the BMI locate where the height and the weight intersect, the BMI is listed at the top of that column. The BMI charts are available in various systems of measurements such as the metric and US system.

Approach: Use the BMI Index Chart locate where 147 pounds and 72 inches intersect. The number at the top of the column is 20.

Solved Problem: Determine the BMI of a 60 year old female patient, weighing 60 kg and measuring 155 cm. .

Approach: Convert kg into pounds and cm into inches.
